Bachelor’s Final Work / Master’s theses is an individual work presented in a written form, equivalent to 10 credit units (15 ECTS) for Bachelor’s Final Work and 30 credit units (45 ECTS) for Master’s theses. The Final Work / Master’s theses must be done in the student’s major subject under the supervision of a teacher. The supervisor and the student must settle the subject of the Final Work / Master’s Thesis. The student is allowed to submit his/her Final Work / Master’s Thesis if he/she has passed all the courses required for the degree. The Final Work / Master’s Thesis is defended in the presence of a Faculty Commission and evaluated by grade.
Course Work / Project can also belong to the study programme and be evaluated by credit units and grades. Course work / project is usually required simultaneously to a theoretical lecture and its aim is to simulate the students to analyse the theory in a deeper level and to apply it in practice.
Department is a smaller unit of the faculty, determined by certain specialisations.
ECTS Student Application Form is the official document of the student’s application to the host institution.
Examination is a testing of the proficiency or knowledge of students. The examinations usually take place during the examination period, which terminates each term (semester). The lecturer can also organise an interim examination to assess knowledge of the students in the middle of semester. Failed examinations can be retaken.
Faculty is a group of similar or subject-related departments of the University.
Laboratory Work can also be introduced into study programme. The aim of the Laboratory work is to use and to apply the theoretical knowledge gained.
Learning Agreement is an agreement of the parties involved into the student’s mobility (host institution, home institution and student). The parties agree on the study programme and the ECTS credits which are to be awarded if the student successfully completes the proposed programme.
Lecture is the main form of teaching aimed to provide the theoretical knowledge.
Practical Training is a part of the study programme and takes place usually in the summer time. The aim of the training is to help the student to apply the theoretical knowledge in practice.
Seminar is a discussion on a syllabus. The main aim of a seminar is to help students to understand the theories learned. Homework, which is prepared by the student as an individual and independent work, can be presented on the seminar.
Study Programme (Curriculum) is a set of modules leading to a certain degree.
Timetable includes time, place and the teachers of each course within a certain degree programme. For the Autumn semester the timetable is arranged at the end of August, for the Spring semester – at the beginning of February. The timetables can be found on the faculty Notice Board.
Transcript of Records is a document conveying the transfer of ECTS credits. It contains a register of all the results achieved by the student before and after his/her period of studies abroad, quoting for each subject the ECTS credits and the results obtained according to the grading scale in force and the ECTS grading scale. The Transcript of Records is drawn up in a way as to be clearly and easily understood by all partner institutions, representing thus a common means of academic recognition and mobility within partner institutions.
